Who is Dajjal?

Assalmualaikum WR WB

All thanks and praise is due to Allah, we seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and the consequences of our evil deeds. Whoever Allah guides will never be led astray, and whoever Allah leads astray will never find guidance. I bear witness there is no God but Allah, alone without any partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.

Makanan Bagi Muslim Saat Dajjal Sudah Muncul

One of the biggest signs of the judgement day in Islam is break down into 10parts and the arrival of Dajjal is the 1st of the 10.

Who is dajjal?

Dajjal is a human who falls in our  Prophet Adam AS ancestor who has a superhuman ability which he himself possesses unlike other human. He acts as the greatest trial in humanity existence as being mentioned by our Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Why is Dajjal name as “Al Masih, Al Dajjal”

There are few reason why he is known as Al Masih and they are

  • He has a blind left eye (another narration stated that he has it on his right)
  • He will cover all the lands in the world (except madinah and mecca)
  • He has the personality of dajjala which means blind and liar

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said,” Indeed, Dajjal is has a one blind eye……………”

Bukhari & Muslim, Kitab:Al-fitan (no. 8/103) Muslim Kitab: Al-Fitan wa Asrayth As-Sa’ah (4/2248)

Evidence to prove that the arrival of Dajjal is one of the biggest signs in the of the hour (Doomsday)

Prophet Muhammad PBUH predicted that,

“The last will never occur until the arrival of 10signs  which are “the smoke”, Arrival of Dajjal, The appearance of the Beast, The Rise of Sun in direction of  west…………” (Muslim)

Dajjal is the biggest trial in humanity

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said that

“The fitnah of the Dajjaal will be the greatest fitnah from the time Allaah created Adam until the Hour begins.” (Muslim)

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “No Prophet was sent but he warned his people about the one-eyed liar. He is one-eyed, but your Lord is not one-eyed, and between his eyes will be written ‘kaafir.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 6598). According to another report: “Written between his eyes will be ‘kaaf faa’ raa’.’” (Muslim, no. 5219) According to a report narrated by Hudhayfah, “This will be read by every believer, literate or illiterate.” (Muslim, no. 5223).

Incident that occur before the arrival of Dajjal

“There will be three hard years before the Dajjal appears. During them, people will be stricken by a great famine. In the first year, Allah will command the sky to withhold a third of its rain, and the earth to withhold a third a third of its produce. In the second year, Allah will command the sky to withhold two thirds of its rain, and the earth to
withhold two thirds of its produce. In the third year, Allah will command the sky to withhold all of its rain, and it will not rain a single drop of rain. He will command the earth to withhold all of its produce, and no plant will grow. All hoofed animals will perish, except that which Allah wills.” He (sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam) was asked,
“What sustains people during that time?” He said, “Tahlil, takbir and tahmid(Saying, la ilaha ill Allah, Allahu Akbar and al-hamdulillah). This will sustain them just as food does.”

Before the arrival of Dajjal, there are few messages will be spread in regards to his arrival in the future. We will see religious institutions, Madrasah, religious event will somehow forget to remind the Ummah (muslim world) whereas all the Prophet (may peace a blessing be upon them all) remind their people about the danger of Dajjal.

This has again been predicited by Prophet Muhammad PBUH

“Dajjaal will not appear until the people will neglect talking about him, and until the Imams will abandon talking about him on the pulpits” (Ahmad)

Physical Features of Dajjal.

We might meet him or we might just escape from his trial but it still our duty to spread the knowledge about Dajjal to our family, friends and love ones so that they will get prepare to strengthen their faith when meeting him

Among these attributes are:

He will be a young man with a ruddy complexion, short, with thick curly hair, a wide forehead, and broad upper chest, blind or defective (mamsooh) in the right eye. This eye will be neither prominent nor sunken, and will look like a floating grape.

His left eye will be covered with a thick piece of flesh growing at the edge of his eye. Written between his eyes will be “Kaaf faa’ raa’ (K-F-R)”, in separate (Arabic) letters, or “kaafir”, with the letters joined. This will be read by every Muslim, literate or illiterate.

Another of his characteristics will be that he will be sterile, with no children born to him.

There follow some of the saheeh ahaadeeth in which the above attributes are mentioned. These ahaadeeth form part of the evidence (daleel) concerning the emergence of the Dajjaal:

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: ‘Whilst I was sleeping, I saw myself performing Tawaaf around the Ka’bah, when I saw a dark man with straight hair, standing between two other men, with water dripping from his head. I asked, “Who is this?” They said, “The son of Maryam.” Then I turned and saw a ruddy-complexioned man, well built, with curly hair, blind in his right eye, with his eye looking like a floating grape. I asked, “Who is this?” They said, “This is the Dajjaal.” The person who looks most like him is Ibnu Qatan.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 6508; Ibn Qatan was a man from Banu Mustalaq from Khuzaa’ah).

Prophet Muhammad PBUH mentioned the Dajjaal to the people and said: “Allaah is not one-eyed, but the false messiah (al-maseeh al-dajjaal) is one-eyed, blind or defective in his right eye, with his eye looking like a floating grape…” (narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 3184).

In the lengthy hadeeth narrated by al-Nawwaas ibn Sam’aan (may Allaah be pleased with him) it says: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) mentioned the Dajjaal one morning. Sometimes he described him as insignificant and sometimes he described him as so significant that we thought that he was in the cluster of date-palm trees…” One of the features of the Dajjaal that he described was: “He will be a young man with very curly hair, with his eye floating. It is as if he looks like ‘Abd al-‘Uzza ibn Qatan.” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 5228)

The media and people  has been falsely spreading false picture/cartoons about how the physical features of the Dajjal. Some human were born naturally with one eyes. Spreading unauthentic features is a sin. These are some of the photos

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “I have told you so much about the Dajjaal that I fear you will not understand. The Dajjaal will be a short man, pigeon-toed, with curly hair. He will be one-eyed, with his eye neither prominent nor sunken. If you become confused about him, then remember that your Lord is not one-eyed.” (Narrated by Abu Dawood, no. 3763. This hadeeth is saheeh – Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, no. 2455).

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: ‘… as for the false messiah, he will be one-eyed, with a wide forehead and broad upper chest, and he will be hunchbacked…’” (Narrated by Ahmad, no. 7564).

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: ‘The Dajjaal will be one-eyed, blind or defective in his left eye, with thick hair. He will have with him a paradise and a hell, but his hell will be a paradise and his paradise will be a hell.’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 5222).

How does Dajjal harm us?

As being mentioned earlier in this post, Dajjal will arrive as the biggest trials since from the time of the first human (Nabi Adam A.S) till the last hour. These are the few trials that we can expect upon his arrival

1-With him heaven, hell, water and fire.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him stated)‘The Dajjaal will be one-eyed, blind in his left eye, and will have thick hair. He will have a paradise and a hell with him, but his paradise will be a hell and his hell will be a paradise.’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 5222)

In this trial Dajjal will present us water and fire and command us to pick either fire or water. We have to be smart enough to learn what the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught to us and we need read his hadith as he has already thought us how to deal in this trial.

He (peace be upon him) stated,”“The Dajjal will emerge, and he will have with him water and fire. As for that which the people will think is water, it will be burning fire, and as for that which the people will think is fire, it will be sweet, cool water. Whoever among you sees that, let him plunge into that which he thinks is fire, for it is sweet, cool water.” [Sahih Muslim]

‘I know what the Dajjaal will bring with him: he will have two rivers flowing. One will clearly look like water and the other will clearly look like blazing fire. If any one of you sees that, let him choose the river which looks like fire, then let him close his eyes and lower his head and drink from it, for it will be cool water.’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 5223)

2-Controlling over the weather

Prophet Muhammad PBUH him states”………………………..He will come to some people and call them, and they will believe in him and respond to him. Then he will command the sky to rain, and the earth to bring forth vegetation, and their cattle will come back to them in the evening, with their humps very high, and their udders full of milk, and their flanks stretched. Then he will come to another people and will call them, but they will reject him. So he will leave them and they will be stricken with famine, with none of their wealth in their hands. He will pass by ruins and will say, ‘Bring forth your treasure!’ – and the treasure will follow him like a swarm of bees. Then he will call a man who is brimming with youth, and will strike him with a sword and cut him in two, then (he will put the pieces apart from one another) the distance of an archer from his target. Then he will call him, and the young man will come forward smiling, with his face shining.” (narrated by Muslim, 5228)

One might say “I will die of hunger and die as a Muslim then follow Dajjal” We can further think how this hadith is so crucial that it will not harm yourself but your love ones too. You might be able to stay hungry for days but what if you you see your children, wives, mother or little brothers and sisters crying because of hunger. Will you stay strong or will you follow Dajjal?

3-He will claim that he is God & “Bringing the dead alive”

The Dajjaal will say (to the people): “What do you think – if I kill this man then bring him back to life, will you have any doubts?” They will say, “No.” So he will kill him, then bring him back to life. Then he (the believing man) will say, “By Allaah, I have never been more sure about you than I am today.” The Dajjaal will want to kill him but will not be permitted to. (al-Bukhaari, no. 6599)

Side note, this hadith got me thinking. In this crucial time (Dajjal era) there are still educated Muslim who still reads the hadith of the prophet peace be upon him. Masha Allah. May Allah grant  us the opportunity to be knowledgeable and still strive for the sake of Allah like this servant of the Al Mighty. Amin

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said of the Dajjaal: “Part of his fitnah will be that he will say to a Bedouin, Do you think that if I resurrect your father and mother for you that you will testify that I am your lord?’ He will say, ‘Yes.’ So two devils will appear to him in the image of his father and mother, saying, ‘O my son, follow him for he is your lord.’” (Narrated by Ibn Maajah, no. 4067. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani, Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, hadeeth 7752).

The only one who can control over who stays alive and who is dead will be determine by Allah. He is the only one who able to do this job. If Dajjal were to be do this, this is done by the will of Allah. The will of Allah does not mean Allah is agree to the act. As being mentioned earlier, Dajjal comes as a test and the one who stay patience will definitely win.

Devil one of the evil creation of Allah. Devil will do anything to go against the commandments of Allah. Devils are also created in a way they can disguise as anyone even the dead. That is when your faith comes to a play whether you want to stay as a Muslim or follow the devil footsteps and follow Dajjal which wont be safe in the hereafter.

Who are the followers of the Dajjal?

Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him said,”This man will emerge between Syria and Iraq, and seventy thousand of the Jews of Isfahan will follow him, because they are his troops. (Narrated by Muslim, 5237).

Isfahan is one of the city located in heart of Iran which is 340km apart from the , the city is Teheran which is the capital of Iran. Based on statistic there are 2500-3000 jewish living in the city. http://www.iranjewish.com.

Funny how Iran which is Shia dominant country are being friends with the Jewish? This is out of topic but let’s think can we the Ahlul Sunnah be together with the Shia who are friends with the Jewish? 🙂

Prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him said “The Dajjaal will come to this pond in Marriqanaat – a valley in Madeenah – and most of those who go out to him will be women, until a man will come to his mother in law, his mother, his daughter, his sister and his aunt, and will tie them up strongly for fear that they will go out to him.” (Narrated by Ahmad, no. 5099)

3-People with faces like burnished shields

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said“He will be followed by people with faces like burnished shields.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2136).

I dont really know how to explain this features. I will just listen and obey what the Prophet PBUH mentioned.

How long will Dajjal be in this world?

In the hadeeth of al-Nawwaas ibn Sam’aan about the Dajjaal, it is reported that the Sahaabah said: “O Messenger of Allaah, how long will he stay on the earth?” He said, “Forty days: one day like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days like your days.”

It was also reported that the Dajjaal will not enter the mosque of Sinai, or Masjid al-Aqsaa (at Jerusalem). Imaam Ahmad (no. 22572) narrated that Junaadah ibn Umayyah al-Azdi said: “I came to a man from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said to him, ‘Tell me a hadeeth that you heard from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about the Dajjaal.’ He mentioned the hadeeth, and said, ‘He will stay among you for forty days, during which he will go to every place (on the earth) apart from four mosques: Masjid al-Haraam (in Makkah), the mosque of Madeenah, the (mosque of) Sinai and Masjid al-Aqsaa.’”  (im not sure of the status of this text, whether is it authentic or not)

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “(He will say:),(dajjal) ‘I almost have permission to emerge. Then I will emerge and will travel throughout the earth for forty days, and I shall not leave any town without entering it, apart from Makkah and Madeenah, which I will be prevented from entering because every time I try to enter,  there will be an angel with an unsheathed sword in his hand, preventing me from entering. On every gate there will be angels defending them.’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 5228)

To be honest 40days is’nt long at all but remember how the Prophet PBUH him elaborate in regards the forty and how Dajjal is the biggest fitna of all time. We must constantly obey Allah and his messenger in order for us to be save for this trial of Dajjal.

Ways for us to avoid the fitnah of Dajjal

1-Try our best to avoid for dajjal

Imaam Ahmad (19118), Abu Dawood (3762) and al-Haakim (4/31) narrated from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever hears of the Dajjaal, let him keep far away from him, for a man will come to him and think that he is telling the truth because of the wonders that are sent with him.”

The hadith means that no matter how strong your faith, the Prophet PBUH advise us not to try to attempt to  meet him or worst have debate. His arrival (Dajjal) will be so powerful that it can shake one’s faith and might cause one to turn into a disbeliever. One might be blinded that Allah actually gave him the ability to revive the one who is already dead, pour down the rain and more examples which has already been elaborated. May Allah protect us. Amin.

2-Running approaching mountains.

Umm Shareek reported: She heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, “The people will flee from the False Messiah by taking shelter in the mountains.” She said, “O Messenger of Allah, where will the Arabs be on that day?” The Prophet said, “They will be few.” Sahih Muslim 2945

Running towards the mountains might not be save but that is one of the method to stay far for the Dajjal.

3-Memorising the first ten verses on Al Kahfi

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said “Whoever memorizes ten aayaat from the beginning of Soorat al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjaal”  Muslim (no. 1342)

“Whoever among you sees him (the Dajjaal), let him recite against him the opening verses of Soorat al-Kahf.”  Muslim (5228)

The best is understand and apply the what you understand from the best 10 verses. May Allah helped us to be those who memorise and apply the meaning the verses.

Reading the entire surah Al Kahfi

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said “Whoever recites Surah kahf on Friday, a Noor will shine for him until the following Friday. (Nasai, Bayhaqi, hakim)

Before i explained how does reading surah Al Kahfi helps us, we need to understand that Al Kahfi was revealed in 4 different stories.

Firstly the Story of the Cave, secondly the Story of The Owners of 2 gardens, thirdly the Story of Musa a.s and Khidir and lastly the story of Dzulqarnain.

The moral of the story are spread into 4 different parts. Moral: trial of (Story of the cave) Moral: trial of wealth (Story of The Owners of 2 gardens) Moral: trial of knowledge (Musa.as and Khidir) Moral: trial of  power

Now how does this link to Dajjal?

He’ll ask people to worship him and not Allah:

Trial of Faith .

He’ll be given powers to start/stop rain and tempt people with his wealth:
Trial of with his wealth. .

He’ll trial people with the “knowledge” and news he gives them:
Trial of Knowledge .

He’ll control huge parts of the Earth.
Trial of Power

Lets read surah Al Kahfi and Insyaallah we will understand.

Asking protection from Allah before give salam during solah

Muslim narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘When any one of you says Tashahhud, let him seek refuge with Allaah from four things, and say: “Allaahumma inni a’oodhi bika min ‘adhaab jahannam wa min ‘adhaab al-qabri wa min fitnat il-mahyaa wa’l-mamaat wa min sharri fitnat al-maseeh al-dajjaal (O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from the torment of Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the fitnah of the Dajjaal).”’” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 924)

I strongly encourage everyone whoever is reading this blog to memorise this dua’a which going to be beneficial.

Solah is a form of the dua’a or not the best form of dua’a and the Prophet PBUH has already reminded us that one of the best method for our dua to be granted is just before we end our solah before giving salam. So we take this time to recite this beautiful dua and of do dua’a for your own needs.

Remind everyone about Dajjal.

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said,”Dajjaal will not appear until the people will neglect talking about him” Ahmad

It is our duty to spread the knowledge of Dajjal to everyone and especially our love ones if we really want to prevent ourselves from meeting the Dajjal. Sharing this post to everyone, encourage people to memorise the first 10verse of Surah Al Kahfi are some of the ways to spread the words.

Try our best to be in Mecca and Madinah during the fitna

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said,”Prophet said, “The terror caused by Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal will not enter Medina and at that time Medina will have seven gates and there will be two angels at each gate guarding them.”

“There will be no town which Ad-Dajjal will not enter except Mecca and Medina, and there will be no entrance (road) (of both Mecca and Medina) but the angels will be standing in rows guarding it against him, and then Medina will shake with its inhabitants thrice (i.e. three earth-quakes will take place) and Allah will expel all the nonbelievers and the hypocrites from it.”  Sahih Bukhari

Honestly i’m not sure how convenient for us to migrate during this Fitnah. May Allah cause us to escape this greatest fitnah.

During the War. Muslims vs Dajjal

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: “The Hour will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews and kill them. The Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will say: ‘O Muslim, O slave of Allaah! There is a Jews behind me, come and kill him!’ (All the trees will say this except for the gharqad (box-thorn), for it is one of the trees of the Jews.’” (Reported by Imaam Ahmad; it is a saheeh hadeeth).

The trees (all except the gharqad) which will show the Jews to the Muslims so that they may kill them during the great battle at the end of time

Death of Dajjal.

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said: ‘The Dajjaal will emerge among my ummah and will stay for forty… Then Allaah will send ‘Eesa ibn Maryam, who looks like ‘Urwah ibn Mas’ood, and he will pursue him and kill him.”  Muslim (no. 5233)

narrated that Majma’ ibn Jaariyah al-Ansaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘The son of Maryam will kill the Dajjaal at the gate of Ludd.”  Imaam Ahmad (no. 14920) and al-Tirmidhi (no. 2170)

Gate of Ludd is located at one of the places of Baitul Maqdis in Palestine.

Before I end, I would like to emphasize that there are lots of other factors which has had already occur before approaching the last hour. It is our duty to be constantly performing our duty as a Muslim to please our maker and before returning to him. Learning about the last hour is serious matter as it Allah had already mentioned in the Quran in various places.

Even the worst of creation, Iblis believes in the last hour and we the best of creation should be better than him.

Till the next post. Do share and me your prayer always.

Jazakumullahu Khair

“Glory be to You O Allah, and all praises be unto You, I bear witness that there is no god but You, and I seek pardon and repentance from You.”
